Will sets out to break his speed record in the Go Speeder and Rosie leans a new musical instrument. Meanwhile Big Bear befriends a little caterpillar who is scared of turning into a butterfly.
WILL races his Go-Speeder around a slalom course of cones. When HOLLY points out that he knocked one over, he says she couldn’t do any better. ROSIE declares that today is Try Something New Day – a day for trying things you’ve never done before.
ROSIE wants to learn to play the banjo. BLUEBIRD has always wanted to speak a foreign language and WILL suggests that OAKLEY could go for a jog! HOLLY doesn’t want to try anything new. She’s quite happy just as she is.
RAGGLES helps BIG BEAR harvest lettuces but discovers they have been eaten by caterpillars. They spot chrysalides on a branch and BIG BEAR explains that these are caterpillars before they turn into butterflies. They find one little caterpillar who hasn’t turned into a chrysalis.
WILL asks HOLLY to show him how to knit. He gets into a tangle but admits he enjoys it. It seems everyone has managed to try something new today, except HOLLY. ROSIE realises that HOLLY is scared and that the Caterpillar is scared too – of flying.
ROSIE and RAGGLES make paper butterflies on sticks and BLUEBIRD gives the caterpillar a ride on her back to show him what it’s like to fly. When HOLLY watches the chrysalides hatching out, filling the sky with butterflies, she wants to try something new. She tentatively asks WILL if she can drive the Go-Speeder and completes the obstacle course. HOLLY realises she would never have known she liked it if she hadn’t tried.
